We have reached springtime, and when I tell you I am OUTSIDE. I mean that. I am outside in my garden, both mentally and physically. This is the season where the Earth comes alive. I hope the sunshine on your face reminds you that every day is another chance to pursue your passions. Explore this season of curiosity with an open heart and see what you find.

It’s IN You!

A monthly ritual to grow your personal power.

On releasing unwanted energy: the simplest way to remove some funky energy (could be from a weird day or remnants from someone you interacted with) is to take a shower. I know you’re probably like, “Girl, I already bathe every day.” Well yes, as you should. But let’s think about it intentionally. When you shower, consider what you can release from your day or an experience.

Examples that you can use as you wash your body:

  • I release the stress of the day.

  • I free myself from any attachments.

  • I release any energy that does not belong to me.

  • I release (insert emotion or event).

  • I release any behaviors or people that are out of alignment with my destiny.

Start at the top of your body and work your way down. Be sure to hit the energetic hot spots (back of the neck, wrists, hands, and feet). Extra points if you designate a special soap for these moments. It doesn’t need to have anything special in it, as long as it makes you feel good. When finished, tell your body, “I love you, and thank you for protecting me.” Why? Because your body is always listening. May this ritual be a blessing to you.
 

Played On Repeat!

“To Whom This May Concern” is an ode to Black people, Black culture, and those who came before us. It reminds us to stand up in it. Be shameless while also moving in gratitude. It’s definitely giving for the adults in the best way. I deeply value music with social commentary that taps the soul. There are tons of nuggets to take with you. The artwork by Chicago-based visual artist and muralist Marcellous Lovelace is bold and transformative. It’s unapologetic in its presentation while putting the masses on notice. I believe it’s stylistically in sync with the content of the album. I encourage you to take a deep dive into this musical masterpiece and see what comes up for you.

Standout Track: Offdaback. It has harmonies, a jazzy melody, storytellin’ poetry, and it is an ode to the ancestors.
